Steady
State - "Self Titled" CD ($6)
Seven Gainesville style melodic punk, ala Leatherface, Drive, or Moving
Targets. This CD comes packaged in an eco-friendly digipak, with artwork
designed by Heather Gabel (A.F.I., Alkaline Trio, Hot Water Music, Against
Me). Still not convinced? Check out some MP3's here. Steady State recently
appeared on the Leatherface Tribute Compilation (Rubber Factory Records)
along with other notables: Hot Water Music, In the Red, Chuck Ragan,
The Tim Version, and more. We have a limited amount of these, so act
fast!

Daleth
/ Blue Shift - "Split" CD-R ($5 in the U.S.)
Daleth further develops its trademark lo-fi sludge,
a hammering wash of overdriven drums and guitars that lends the texture
of speakers squarewaving into rupture. The songs progress confidently,
often shifting to angular, atonal, quasi jazz-inflected avant-metal,
lilting post-rock hazes, and crescendoing passages of subwoofer-wobbling
trudges and stutters. All in all, Daleth produces a sonic tension between
exhaustion and mania, and while Blue Shift deals in similar psychological
themes, it is through the use of quite different materials--namely, cacophonic,
beatless violin riffs recorded in the red. From piercing shrillness to
anxious quietism, Blue Shift produces tones of neurosis so palpable that
someone needs to redo The Shining with these seizuring violin lines accompanying
Nicholson's mental collapse. Recommended if you like: Floor, Isis,
Noise.

Ars
Phoenix - "Engines of Progress" Digipak CD ($6)
Ars Phoenix delivers a mélange of electro-rock
rhythms, ambient synths, buzzsaw basses, and shimmering indie-pop guitars
in Engines of Progress, the long-awaited follow up to 2002's Teen Movie
Soundtrack (out of print). With appearances from members of Fake Problems,
The Antiques, and Rowdy Towdy, this 18-track collection is a sonic bricolage
of atmospheric post-punk, melancholic new wave, quirky IDM, hypnotic
trip hop, and climactic shoegaze/post-rock. Carefully layered melodies
and beats meet experimental blips and crackles in a release equally suited
to dance floors and indie shows.
Rowdy
Towdy - "Self Titled" CD ($5)
Four brand new songs from your favorite cowboy
indie / folk-rockers. These tracks come with a dose of punk, and will
not let anyone down! Features members of Noah's Apathy, Daleth, and
Jenji!
Jenji
- "Practice Space Blues" CD ($5)
Recorded live in their practice space, Jenji takes
a raw, unpolished approach to punk that has almost been lost amidst the
countless numbers of over-produced, auto-tuned, TRL-aspiring pop punk
bands. The songs are melodic, and the vocals of lead singer Jen are snotty,
humorous, and in your face. It has been noted that Jenji's shrill, stripped
down, full-volume live performance can bring ears to the bleeding point,
but for some reason the gut-level melodies and incessant rhythms make
it feel so good. With influences ranging from Screeching Weasel, to The
Ramones, and Bikini Kill and a completely live, energetic, and unadorned
approach to recording, those who prefer their punk real, raw, and catchy owe
it to themselves to check out Practice Space Blues. **WE JUST FOUND THREE
COPIES OF THIS, AFTER THESE ARE GONE, IT'S OUT OF PRINT. HURRY UP AND ACT NOW!**
Jenji
-
"Self Titled" CD ($5)
After months of anticipation, Jenji returns with fifteen songs of pure female
fronted, pop-punk bliss. Believe us, it was worth the wait, as this could quite
possibly be their best release to date.

Even in Blackouts
- "Fall of the House of Even" CD ($6)
For their third full-length release, Even In Blackouts
has taken another step in the progression of their sound. Every track on Fall
of the House of Even takes a separate approach as if they were different rooms
in a decrepit house. Each one of those rooms carries its own occupant, and
with that entity comes different musical influences ranging from punk, bluegrass,
jazz and R&B. Match the
occasionally dark undertones with their always present energy and angelic female
voice, and you get EIB’s most inspired release yet.
Noah's Apathy - "Something
to Divide" CD ($4)
Noah's Apathy is like a machine gone mad. Just when you
think you have them figured out, they completely change the settings. 2004's, "The Pacific" left
everyone singing the songs for months. Now, they're back with seven pounding
tracks of riff heavy fury. Sure, you might know the words to the chorus, but
what about the bridge?! Anyone with a solid taste in music can and will enjoy
this band!
Fake Problems / Sedona
- "Split" CD ($4)
Fake Problems: Handsome indie pop connoisseurs performing
witty and intelligent rock & roll music with undertones of folk from Naples,
FL. Always on tour! Sedona: Features members of The Arrivals! Gentle
indie from North Carolina. Sedona can also be found on several Deep Elm Records
compilations.
Unlucky Atlas - "The
Course of Empire" 3" CD ($2)
Apocalyptic acoustic doom! Four brand new tracks from
Chicago via Florida transplants Unlucky Atlas on a 3" CD. If His Hero
is Gone unplugged, they might sound something like this! ***Please note, this
may not be suitable for all CD Players!***
Unlucky Atlas / The
Antiques - "Split" 7" ($2)
Chicago's new residents Unlucky Atlas present doom laden
synth heavy apocalyptic with male and female harmonies over airy 6 & 12
string guitar work in the vein of The Church, One AM Radio, and Starflyer 59
while Washington DC's The Antiques stumble over 60's garage melancholia accompanied
by Farfisa Organs and Johnny marr-esque guitar stylings.
